Ask any mom, and they’ll tell you one of the hardest parts about cooking for children is keeping them from playing with their food. Which is why your kids will love this Frankenweenie hotdog recipe, which they can customize and decorate to create their own delicious “monster-piece.”
What You’ll Need
- Hotdogs
- Hotdog buns
- Pretzel sticks
- Mozzarella sticks
- Mustard (or your favorite condiments)
- Wooden skewers
- Hairdryer (or oven broiler)
Let’s Do It
Boil your hotdogs per the package instructions, and then carefully char one end of each hotdog over an open flame
Using a wooden skewer, create a hole through the middle of the hotdog about one-third of the way from the top
Remove the skewer and insert a pretzel stick through the hole to create the “neck bolts” (snap off any excess pretzel)
Cut the mozzarella into small slices, arrange on the hotdog in stitches shapes
Use a hairdryer to melt the cheese onto the hotdog (or broil it in an oven for a few seconds)
Use wooden skewer tip to apply mustard eyes, or substitute with your favorite condiment
