Celebrate the season with these adorable DIY witches’ broomsticks. Use them to adorn candy apples, cocktails, or simply as delightful decorations for your home this Halloween.
What You’ll Need
- Caramel / candy apples
- Raffia
- Wooden skewers
- Embroidery floss
- Brown thread
- Scissors
- Sewing machine
- Hot glue gun
Let’s Do It
- Gather a small bunch of raffia (about 20 strands) and stitch together in the center–the seam is about 3⁄4 of an inch long
- Trim the raffia to about 5 inches wide
- Place a dot of hot glue to the left of the seam; place the blunt end of the skewer into the glue (extending about an inch past the seam)
- Fold the right half of the raffia over the skewer and hold the ends securely; wrap embroidery floss around the broom bristles (about 1⁄2 inch from the folded end of raffia)
- Wrap three to four times and secure with a knot
- Stick the broom skewer into the top of a candy apple
