T.G.I.M.

When I met my husband, I was shocked at how excited he was to get up on a Monday morning to go to the office.  And even more surprised to learn that no matter how tempting an opportunity may be to ‘play hooky’ or ‘call in sick,’ he never bit the hook.  How could he not want a long afternoon in a park somewhere with just him and me?  Hmmm…what’s wrong with him?  Or deeper, what’s wrong with us?

Fast forward to today.  I have never been more excited to get up in the mornings, nor more bummed to realize tomorrow is Saturday and all of my Cherylistas are eagerly anticipating their weekend.  Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE my down time with my family, but wait, we have so much to do.  Can we just finish X?  Really, tomorrow is Saturday already?

So, I guess you would say, I’ve caught the Thank God It’s Monday bug – T.G.I.M.  I get it now.  If you were to ask me to go to on long lunch my head would start reeling.  Although a picnic in the middle of nowhere is tempting, I would be asking myself, “But, what about my meetings?  Will I have my 4G email access in this ‘nowhere?’  Or, couldn’t we do this picnic on the weekend so I don’t miss anything at CherylStyle?”  I am manic for Mondays now, and I love it.

So what is my Manic Monday routine?  It all starts with the delight to discover the emails have begun again from their dormant weekend slumber.  We have tons of activity on the East coast, so I hit the ground running when I awake.  When I arrive at the office I am greeted by 20 bright and shinning faces reenergized from their weekend, eager to get the party started.  I reconnect with Erika, the Director of my Sanity and she sets me assail on my day.  By noon, I’m meeting with my two leaders in the company, Michael and Stew.  Michael is in charge of operations and Stew, all of the creative, so we pow-wow on what is in the pipeline and how we are going to tackle the upcoming week.  By the time I know it, it is time to pick up the kiddos.  Wow!  Where did Monday go?

As I write this, I can’t help but think:  I wish everyone were as happy to wake up in the mornings as I am.  Wouldn’t the world be a better place?  So tell me, how do you feel about your Mondays?

Live the moment,
